Soccer...

We (it was a family affair) went to my little brother's soccer game yesterday in the wonderful heat...gotta love it.

The Game

Sam had an assist in his first varsity game and I actually got a picture of it. He's the one with the ball. He passed it to the other guy in white (not the goalie) and his team mate scored. Woohoo! They won 3-0!

The Player

Here's Sam...We love you number 5!

The Spectators

My dad and other brother Riley

Me and Rye

We are dedicated fans...check out the chairs...we don't mess around.

(mom, why aren't you in any pictures?)

The Other Player

Riley plays for JV...but didn't have a game yesterday because the other school only had a varisty team. :(

i <3 reading

I'm home and enjoying the time off of school and work. I came home to a list of books from my mom that I need to read. So I have been reading like crazy. The first book I set out to conquer was "Twilight" written by Stephenie Meyer. I started it yesterday and finished it today. So much for coming home to catch up on my sleep. It was a wonderful book and I will undoubtedly finish the next two in the series before this week ends. Here is a picture of my activities of the day and my chair of choice...

Rubik's Cubes

I love Rubik's Cubes. In fact, I may be a little obsessed. There is no way I can see a messed up cube and just leave it there. I have to solve it. My little brother taught me how to solve it about 2.5 years ago. We have been timing ourselves and racing ever since. My record is 1 minute and 34 seconds and Riley's is 1 minute and 15 seconds. But we are both no where near the world record which is just under 11 seconds. That's so crazy! We better keep practicing.

Glass Heads

I used to work at Pier 1 Imports so I like to think that I have an eye for decorating. Some start to question this when they see my apartment. The main contributions that I have made are three glass heads. You can buy them at Pier 1 for $15. They are so random and that's why I like them. I started out with only one (the one with the scooter helmet). It looked so alone on the entertainment center all by itself, so I figured more would be nice. I couldn't get just one more because threes look better than twos, so I had to go with two more. Then I got to dress them up, that was the fun part. The pirate is a little weird... I have been thinking I might change him to a snowboarder with a beanie and my goggles sometime. We'll see. I would definitely recommend at least one glass head for everyone. It is a great conversation piece and can be put anywhere. This isn't even a sales pitch for Pier 1... I don't work there anymore. Seriously though, go invest the best $15 of your life on a glass head. (while you're at Pier 1, check out the reed diffusers, biscotti is my favorite)

cooking...

So cooking is definitely not one of my fortes, but I keep trying. Maybe I will get better...someday. This week I tried to cook a frozen pizza, sounds easy enough, right? Well not for Katie. I safely got it in the oven and I even set the timer. I thought I was set for success. But the whole listening for the timer to go off thing kind of slipped my mind. Once I remembered that I was cooking a pizza, I ran to the oven but it was semi-too late. The pizza was definitely burnt, but still edible. From this experience I learned two things: #1-I like pizza that isn't burnt better and #2-to listen for the timer when I attempt to cook dinner.

Quasi's Bell Tower???

The name of my blog is pretty...unique. So let me explain. I have scoliosis. Scoliosis is the lateral (sideways) curvature of the spine. Because my spine curves, I have two humps on my back. You can't really tell unless you look closely, so thats good. My shoulders are also uneven. The right one is 1 centimeter higher than the left one. When they did the scoliosis checks in junior high, the nurse told me that my right rib was raised and to make sure that I watched it. Yeah...ok. Anyways, my back was hurting alot about 3-4 years later, so my mom took me to the doctor. We discovered that I had scoliosis my junior year in high school. When I got my x-rays back we saw something that looked like this...

I was shocked that my back was that crooked. I have an "S" curve and it is "idiopathic" meaning the cause is unknown. The degree of my top curve is 37 and the bottom curve is 32. If the curves get to be somewhere between 40-50 degrees, then I will have to consider surgery. Luckily, my back has stabalized and has been the same for about two years. Since we caught it so late, there really isn't anything to do. They can sometimes fix scoliosis when your still growing by wearing some sort of brace. Mainly I just have to deal with it, but its not that bad. My back usually only hurts when I sit in the same position for a long time, or if I'm playing alot of golf and tennis. It also pops like crazy!

So now to the title... When my two younger brothers and I "fight" they occasionally tell me, "Go back to your bell tower Quasi!" We all get along great, so I don't take any offense to it. It is something that we just laugh at because it is so funny. Well, we think its funny. So I figured that it would be a perfect name for my blog. I know its random...but aren't we all.

Here I am...

I have officially joined the blogging world and I am so excited about it! I will try to keep things somewhat entertaining, but it will take me a while to figure it all out. How fun!?!
