Deal or no deal? Deal!

Today my mom and I stopped by a store that sells scrubs. I have to wear scrubs in Romania when I am working in the orphanage and the hospital so we figured we would check this place out. We went inside and the nicest man and his wife were so eager to help me; I was the only customer in the shop. I told them I needed blue scrubs and they got me the classic scrubs and the fitted scrubs to try on for size. He gave me the two and had me try them on, he even got the right size without even asking me. This guy is skilled. The two just kept handing me stuff to try on. I decided to go with the classic fit because who cares if I'm wearing big and baggy scrubs in Romania. After we figured out the fit, I had to decide what color of blue to buy. I was a little bit boring and got all three of them the same color: the beautiful royal blue you see above. They are so comfortable! But that is not even the best part... I have been looking online at scrubs and they are about $40 for the set. The place I went to sold the classic fit for $20 a set or 3 for $50 and the fitted scrubs for $25 a set or 3 for $70. So we decided to buy them. The guy also threw in a pair of the bright blue scrubs (which are so fun) because he thought I was so great for going to Romania to volunteer. I ended up getting 4 sets of scrubs for $53.88. So cool! What a nice couple?! They totally made my day!
p.s. the picture is cropped so creatively because my mom didn't want the whole world to see our semi-messy house :) love ya mom!

we all need bandanas...

this morning i discovered the power of a bandana. true story. i was sitting on my computer just checking my email and riley comes out with an orange bandana around his head. i commented on how cool it was. moments later he had a blue one for me and he tied it around my head. riley turned on some music and we started dancing around like fools ( i think we have been playing too much guitar hero). but try it out yourself. if you are feeling tired and you know you have a lot of things to do, just strap on a brightly colored bandana and you will be re-energized and ready to take on anything. who knew what tying on a bandana could do to a person...

Lime-y Goodness

I made this Key Lime Pie today (see, I even marked it with my initial). This pie was so easy to make and it was really good. So I thought I would share the recipe with everyone. My mom got it from Real Simple. Even if you don't consider yourself good in the kitchen I know you can make this because I did.

Here is what you need:

  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 6-ounce can frozen limeade concentrate (not thawed)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • graham cracker crust

Here is what you do:

  • whip everything together (except the crust) until fluffly and soft peaks form
  • pour the filling into the piecrust
  • refrigerate until loosely set, at least 4 hours
  • sprinkle the top with zest of lime if you so desire

It is pretty simple and a perfect dessert for those hot summer days... enjoy!

I've Been Tagged

Here are 5 unimportant things about me...

1. I have three glass heads that I put random hats, sunglasses, etc. on and I consider them decoration. Here they are in their current garb. My mom didn't realize that these would be in our living room when I came home.

2. I love photography and sometimes wish that it was my major. I usually have a camera in my purse just in case I see something cool or unique.

3. My record of solving the Rubik's Cube is 1 minute and 28 seconds. My little brother, Riley, still has me beat by 13 seconds, so I still have some practicing to do.

4. I love to buy purses. They are one of the funnest things to shop for, but I don't like to carry them around. I would rather have my hands free.

5. I have scoliosis. My back looks like an "S" and my brother's call me Quasi sometimes.... hence the name of my blog.

I'm Home!

I just got back from college and I am home to stay... for about two months. I am excited to be done with classes for a while. I have been going to school for a solid year. I just want to relax and I am glad to be with my family. I have been home for about 15 minutes and I already miss Jeremy like crazy. It will be a long summer. I don't have enough time to get a job, so if anyone wants me to watch their kids, their house, etc. while they go out of town, give me a call.

Well Aren't We Artists...

Last night Jeremy and I decided to do something a little more creative. We went and bought mat board and paint and we each painted two pictures. It was a lot of fun. Jeremy's picture on the left is of us at the Y and his right one is...pretty cool.
My left picture is also of me and J and my right one is just some random stuff.

Dad

Happy Father's Day!
I love you so much. You have taught me so many things throughout life and I love the memories that I have of us. Thank you for teaching me how to throw a baseball. I remember playing catch in the front yard every week when I was a little girl. Thank you for teaching me how to mow the lawn and for letting me do it even though you would have to do it after me to get all of the spots I missed. Most of all thank you for helping me become who I am today. You are such a wonderful example to me. You have taught me so much about the importance of living the Gospel and trying to become more like Christ. You are always reaching out to others and doing everything that you can to help them. I love how you are always smiling and you are always so funny. You are the best dad I could ever ask for. Thank you for all that you do. I love you!

A life is lost...

Last night, Jeremy and I headed to the duck pond for a picnic. It was about 8:30. We sat down on a slight hill and we were facing the street. I had just emptied my bag with all of our goodies to eat and we heard a lady scream. We both immediately looked towards the road and saw the lady that screamed hit a duck in her van. The lady was screaming and crying hysterically and she kept looking back at the duck as she drove away. Feathers were everywhere and the duck that got hit started to flap his wings and try to fly away, but he wasn't strong enough. The precious duck layed his head down and he passed away. One of the saddest things we saw was the reaction of the other ducks. Right after the duck was hit, this one duck immediately ran from the pond out towards the street, but the ducks couldn't get to their friend because of the cars that kept driving by. The ducks just sat on the side of the road and stared at their friend for almost 10 minutes. It was so sad. After Jeremy and I ate, we fed the ducks some wheat bread and saltine crackers to help them get over the loss of their friend. Even though there is death and sorrow in the world, there is also birth and happiness. At the duck pond there were about 6 little ducklings that were following their momma in the water. They were so precious. Another momma duck was sitting on her eggs and protecting them from any harm. These little ducks are just getting the opportunity to experience the many sides of life. They are taking their first steps and their first swims. The sadness of the passing away of the duck was eventually replaced as we watched these ducklings play with their brothers and sisters for one of the first times.

Sing it girl!

My Romanian teacher showed us this in class yesterday. This girl is three years old and she is amazing! Her father is a musician and he wrote the song. Ghita is the name of a boy and Cleopatra is waiting for him to come. I just thought that the video was pretty cool. Enjoy the Romanian music!

Congrats Little Brother!

Sam just graduated from High School last night and now he is on to bigger and better things. Great job! Sorry I couldn't be there for you buddy. Sam was supposed to graduate in 2009, but he decided to take no electives this year and graduate a year early. What a stud?! Some people barely graduate from high school, and Sam did the whole thing in three years instead of four. Way to go Sam! You are such a great brother! I love you!

I got a TURKEY!

Today I bowled a 196. WOOOHOO! Can you believe it? I sure couldn't. The first game we played I only scored an 84....but I was just warming up. In the second game I got 5 strikes (two in a row and then three in a row) and 3 spares which resulted in a score of 196. I'm pretty sure that is the highest score that I have ever gotten! I just kept getting strikes... it was crazy!
