Numero Tres

Here's another music video! - from a baseball field in Vegas. This one has a little more free-styling and not as much choreography. We had fun messing around. Thanks to Jeremy for the great camera work. We danced to "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus.

Busy Busy

My mom and I just keep finding projects to do. Last night's project was to make costumes for our traditional reenactment of the nativity scene while someone reads the account in Luke 2 (like many of you, I'm sure).

Somehow I always end up being in charge of getting the kids ready and assigning the parts. Its tough to sort through the sheets and towels to find costumes for everyone and have them somewhat resemble shepherds, wise men, angels, or the holy family, while the audience of parents is waiting around the corner.

Well, this year will be more fun. I am proud to announce that we are prepared! (Notice the plethora of fabric to the left.) We made 15 costumes, complete with cords, sashes, and head pieces.

This year... I am EXCITED to dress the little ones up and recreate the sacred scene of Christ's birth.

Love Tree

In the recent years we have had heart themed Christmas trees. It is my favorite. I hope Jeremy doesn't mind that I plan on having Love Trees, too.
(I am sure missing that boy. Come quick sweetie!)

Spread the LOVE this season.

Does your tree have a theme?

reason #37

to avoid travelling without your spouse

today i was in the airport to fly to vegas.

i was on my way to my gate, going down the escalator, and noticed this guy getting closer to me. i scooted over to the right to allow him to pass and looked back at him with a smile. (wrong move, don't smile at single college boys who are on the hunt.)

he started talking to me, asking where i was going, where i was coming from; just airport small talk. he (shall we call him stan? sure, it rhymes with his real name) had missed his flight this morning and was on stand-by hoping to fly home. we walked down the long hall flanked with food, souvenirs, and magazines to find that our gates were in the same area. we said good-bye anyways, i went to the right, he went to the left, and he added that hopefully he would see me later. (yeah, ok.)

i found a seat, made some phone calls, and then pulled out a magazine to flip through. later i looked up to see who else was flying out and stan, waving for me to come sit by him, caught my eye. (wrong move again, don't agree to go sit by single college boys who are on the hunt.)

stan was seated next to another guy who was strumming on his guitar (let's call him... drew, because it's part of his real name). drew scooted over a chair allowing me to sit by stan. i was sandwiched between my new friends... perfect.

stan explained to me that he had heard drew playing some chords, sat down, introduced himself, and told him to keep playing. he had then come up with some lyrics to the music and he wanted to share them with me. then he told me that there was really no reason for him to miss his flight this morning and that maybe this was why. (ok, really? i am not the girl of your dreams here....
I AM MARRIED.)

drew started his strumming and stan was trying to get into the mood... eyes closed with his upper body swaying. he kept saying that he was SO nervous. (that's ok... i can leave. can i? please?) this may have been where he finally saw my wedding ring because he suddenly asked me to switch spots with drew; he needed to "feel" the music. well, i guess it worked becuause stan finally started singing. drew strummed, stan sang, and i sat there wishing i wasn't there.

out of no where, (well, really this whole thing was out of no where) stan gathers his stuff and leaves. not even a merry christmas. so i chatted with drew, might as well talk to this new friend. stan returned less than a minute later saying that his flight hadn't boarded yet. he sat back down, turned to me and said, "i noticed your ring, are you married?" YES, YES I AM!

needless to say, i most definitely prefer travelling with my hot husband. then i can chat with him and maybe even be serenaded by him instead of some stranger. (he is coming wednesday)

let's CELEBRATE

we are both done with finals, so we had a fun night to celebrate.
we ate at Jason's Deli. we always ate here when we first started dating, so it seems so... us.
i love it! see my hot festive nails?

we heart all you can eat ice cream!

then we rushed home to open some christmas presents! we figured we weren't going to haul them to vegas (we're flying), so we might as well open them early to celebrate being done with school. so we had a mini christmas.

we were spoiled with fun movies, awesome gift cards, a customized embosser (i know... so cool),

AND A WII!
(from mama and papa clover)

we tested it out right away...
i am practicing bowling and jeremy is tearing it up on the tennis courts

thank you to family who sent us our gifts early... we are loving it.

hoping for A's

done with finals!

yay! i can breathe.

no research projects, reading assignments, presentations, papers, or hiking up those dang stairs by the duck pond for two weeks!

tomorrow will consist of first of all, sleeping in, then comfy pajamas, hot chocolate, maybe a movie, cleaning, painting my fingernails bright red, and possibly a bubble bath. i can't wait. well, i'm not super excited about the cleaning part, but i like a clean house, especially before we go out of town. VEGAS for Christmas...
woot woot!

now i just need jeremy to take his tough genetics test so he can join in the fun with me!!

good luck babe!

implicit egotism

finals are just around the corner... so our saturday night has been spent with text books, note cards, highlighters, and slide shows. i have been working on a study guide for my social psychology final and found the coolest thing. (awesome class by the way- take it from dr. niwako yamawaki). in the text book is a term called implicit egotism, hence the title of this post, and it is so crazy. so let me tell you a little about while i take a quick break from my notecards...

implicit egotism: means that we like what we associate with ourselves.

stick with me here

this includes letters of our names, people, places, birthdates, and other things that we unconcsiously connect with ourselves.

now let's look at some evidence...

if a stranger's face is morphed to include features of our own, we like the new face better. we are more likely to marry someone whose first or last name resembles our own (like starting with the same letter, etc). philadelphia has 10.4 times as many people named philip than in jacksonville. women named georgia are more likely to move to georgia, same goes for women named virginia moving to virginia. st. louis has a 49% excess of men named louis, relative to the national proportion. people even prefer careers that resemble their names: there are 2.5 times as many dentists named denise as there are with equally popular names, same goes for dennis. people named george are overrepresented among geologists. even in the 2000 presidential election people with the last names beginning with b and g were disproportionately likely to contribute to the campaigns of bush and gore, respectively.

WOW!

well, i know that i have had a dentist named denise, jeremy's last name started with the same initial as my maiden name, i love the number 19 (born on the 19th), i just got a wedding invitation where the parents' names were mitch and michelle and the people getting married were clint and kinsey (so excited for you kins!), an invitation with scott and sarah getting married, and another invitation where the parents are kyle and katherine...

Can you see any implicit egotism around you??

i would love to hear them!

i could probably go on if i kept thinking.... but i better get to the rest of this chapter and see what other crazy things i can find out about people, and consequently myself.

i can do this.

To my love:

Advent
noun

from the Latin word adventus, which means "coming," it is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas.
Definition courtesy of Wikipedia.

Wow! Kinda cool. I have never questioned what advent actually meant in all of my life, yet I always remember having an "Advent Calendar."
Maybe I should think more... it's usually a good thing.

Let the fun begin!

Here's our Christmas banner we hung today.

I made it from a kit my momma gave me.

We also started our Advent Calendars...

This is the first year Jeremy has had an Advent Calendar... EVER.

He wondered what an Advent was... I told him I had no idea. But the chocolate is fun.
Ooooo.... I just love December!
