squash

hey guys!

i ate squash last night. true story.

mostly because someone else cooked us dinner and the squash was grated and hidden inside the delicious chicken enchiladas... but hey- i knew the squash was there and i still ate it. woot woot!

maybe i should take this approach (hiding the veggies in my food) for a while instead of attempting to just eat the veggies straight up... gross! i might even venture to try some smoothies with fruit and spinach, too. maybe i could handle those, but they might come out too green.

any favorite smoothie recipes out there?

Ohana Shave Ice

our quest for the best: {shave ice edition}

round 6

Ohana Shave Ice

at the Smith's on Freedom

jeremy got an extra small strawberry kiwi and i got a small orange dreamsicle. my
flavor was WAY good! jeremy's tasted like a capri sun.

we went after i picked jeremy up from work- that's why he's all dressed up and i was in sweats

the deets

prices: $2 for a small ($1 for an extra small), cream on top for .50, ice cream on the
bottom for $1, no extra for tax, only take cash and check

flavors: good selection, no suggested combos, no extra for multiple flavors

loyalty bonus: none- but we forgot to ask

seating: a table with four chairs on the sidewalk

misc: worst ice yet- big chunks, free popcorn (supposedly, but we weren't
offered any)
, give you a napkin and spooned straw, no music

the verdict

i don't think we will go back. i loved the flavor i ordered, but the ice was really
hard and chunky. jeremy and i had a hard time eating it with our spooned straws. jeremy
kept saying, "i don't like this," while hacking away at his ice block. i would choose to visit the
SURF N SLURP, Paradise Bay, or Hokulia over Ohana for shave ice.

til our next shave ice outing...

camp out

we went camping last night. just me, j, and richie.

we roasted hot dogs for dinner.
they always taste so good roasted over a camp fire.

and then we roasted mallows and had s'mores for dessert.
(with reese's peanut butter cups... they're the best!)

here we are in the morning: don't we look lovely?

we had to take a nature walk. the mountains are BEAUTIFUL!

we all agreed that it was a very successful camp out.
j and i set up our tent and got our lantern lit (both for the 1st time), the food was delicious, we saw a shooting star, our fire was huge, jeremy saw the big dipper for the 1st time, and we didn't get eaten by bears. SUCCESS.

we will have to go camping again soon!

WATER FIGHT!

jeremy and i went to BYU's massive water fight today.

they were trying to break the world record for largest water balloon fight. i heard we missed it by a few hundred people. the goal was 4500 people and i think we ended up with 4200 or something like that. post edit: i was mistaken (i trusted the rumors, bad idea), but WE BROKE THE WORLD RECORD! woohoo! and me and j were THERE! what up?! more info and some video links here. they had 120,000 water balloons ready for the fight and they were even filming a music video during the fight for kyle andrews. it was crazy fun!

we got to pick the color of our shirts. i wanted pink; jeremy wanted green (he refuses to wear pink), so we thought we would be on different teams... oh well. it ended up being pink and green versus orange and blue. it was way intense. i am SO glad we were on the same team. it kind of looked like this, except for we each had our own bag of balloons.

before and after
(we look the exact same... just a darker shade)

we were on the front line and we were soaked in less than a minute. i got hit SO many times -man! they hurt when they don't pop on contact. so i turned to jeremy and started screaming "ABORT ABORT ABORT!" he was sick of being pounded in the face too, so we ran to the back where we lobbed more balloons into the crowds. it was WAY fun and it looked way cool with SO many balloons flying around!

then we got free lunch.
turkey and ham sandwiches, cookies and cream ice cream, and water bottles.

(our butt prints)

free shirts, free food, and a huge water balloon fight...

what a great day!
