officially oriented

today jeremy and i each had orientation.
(well, orientation started. jeremy's is 4 days, mine is 2.)

mine was great! i am so excited to start school. the whole thing reassured me that social work is what i want to do. in my two year program, i will go to class two days a week and then go to my internship the other three days of the week. this year i will be interning at a residential treatment program for teenage boys overcoming substance abuse. oh yeah, this will be a grand adventure!

jeremy had a good time at his orientation, too. he had to go all alone on "family day" poor guy, luckily we have our buddies amber and ryan here (ryan is also going to dental school). funny story: i got a text from amber around lunch time that said, "Someone asked if we were Jeremy's parents. What?" HILARIOUS! i couldn't believe it! i got the full story later. amber and ryan were sitting next to jeremy at lunch and another student's mom was next to amber. she leaned over to ask amber, "is he your oldest or youngest?" her eyes popped out of her head as confusion ensued. she straightened that mom out and informed her that both of the boys were in dental school. how nuts! how could amber have a son the same age as her?? so crazy! don't worry amber, you do NOT look old enough to have a child in dental school.... AT ALL!

anyway, it was a good day! here we are in our new shirts:
woot woot!

at least the lights flickered

jeremy has declared miss irene "a bust!"

he wanted at least a major power outage with all this hype. the storm ended up going west of us and hitting other places pretty hard. hope everyone is doing ok! the lights flickered a couple of times at our place (while i was in the shower of course and i was certain jeremy was messing with me), but besides lots of rain and some wind, that was all that came our way. church was cancelled as of last night, so today was even more laid back than normal sundays. we did have a mini scripture lesson amongst ourselves and go outside to walk in the rain, but besides that we were just bumming it all day. princess bride was jeremy's movie of choice this afternoon - he proceeded to sleep through the whole thing, but i enjoyed it. i also got everything organized for school. boy, am i excited! and a little nervous! i got the SWEETEST backpack for school - since i NEED a new backpack for grad school and all (it took me a whole week to convince jeremy i needed one, although i still don't think he is convinced). you will have to wait until my first day of school for the big reveal, which will be friday. aahhhhhhh! hint: it's BRIGHT! only a couple more days of doing nothing before we have LOTS and LOTS to do. wow... i am doing some major rambling. maybe it's the lack of human interaction i have had today - we did play games with some other couples that live here and had a blast. i think i made some friends, guys. woot woot!

she's coming for us!

irene!! she's kind of a beast...

she's on her way (according to some), so we will see what the weekend has in store for us. i think we
are pretty prepared - we have a case of bottled water and rain boots. all set!

go ironbirds!

for the last couple of days we have been in baltimore
visiting jeremy's family. we are having a blast playing games and celebrating his mom's birthday. tonight we went to an aberdeen ironbirds baseball game (a single A team around here). i LOVE going to baseball games, especially when they involve good food, the great seats were just an added bonus.

check out those helmet sundaes! love it. jeremy also caught a free shirt. yep, he's a stud.

well, it's back to boston for us. thanks for the fun guys. we had to change our flight twice in order to get out before irene hits, but hopefully we will be able to fly out tomorrow morning.

i got to talk to sammy last night and jeremy and i skyped with the two boys today. (i know i am a little late to jump on the bandwagon, but skyping ROCKS!!) i am so glad he is home! SOOOOOO GLAD! i can't wait to see him. i just bought a ticket to fly there for labor day... call me crazy, but there is no way i can wait until christmas to hang out with the fam. see you soon guys!

quack, quack!

yesterday we spent some time in the city. one thing we checked out was the duck tour with amber and ryan! i have never been on one of those things, and it was cool. we started out on land, winding through the historic streets and the next thing you know we are in the charles river. i loved it!

it was a good time! i definitely need to go back to explore the back bay area. soooo neat!

after the tour we walked around the wharfs and made our way to a free concert.

man, they had the whole crowd boogie-ing. it was great.

we love boston!

WISHLIST wednesday: No. 14

today i wish for a bison skull.

how cool would this buddy be? i love decorating with the unexpected. it's just more fun.

do the splitz

we stumbled upon the cutest ice cream shop
while we were exploring the little roads around here.

i got moose tracks (lots of fudge and peanut butter cups) and jeremy ordered a chocolate-vanilla twist cone. we both got the kiddie size and thank heavens, because that was plenty! we are excited to go back. you can even order a "mega super split" - 3 bananas and 10 scoops. that would be CRAZY!

hola!

i am taking a 1 credit spanish class this upcoming semester along with my regular coursework and i don't know who is more excited... me or jeremy.

i got my books in the mail the other day (thank you amazon!) and that night we started our "spanish lessons." yes, we are NERDS! we went over basic pronunciation, common phrases, pronouns, and then how to conjugate regular -ar, -er, and -ir ending verbs. it was a great success and i am totally going to ace this class because of jeremy! it's going to ROCK! maybe i can really learn the language since i will be able to practice speaking it with someone at home.

countdowns

sam comes home in 5 days!
aaaahhhhhh! florida has hogged that boy for far too long. i can't wait to skype with him!!!

also,
school starts in 2 weeks! and i am so excited. i love going to school, although it has been WAY fun bumming around playing tennis and hanging out by the pool. i get to go shopping for my school supplies, too. so fun. maybe i will go to school forever, i just love it. we will see about that once i am in the middle of the semester and knee deep in deadlines.

also,
my birthday is in exactly 1 month! woot woot! did you know that i LOVE my birthday?!? love Love LOVE it. maybe it's the presents or because jeremy calls me "birthday girl" ALL day long... he's the sweetest.

we got some pretty exciting stuff going on these days...

still not smart

i upgraded and got a new phone:

yes, i still rock the flip phone! yeah baby! i love this little guy. it's a titch smaller than my previous phone, so it's great. i am not sure that i will ever get a smart phone... i just don't want to be that connected to the world (although some of those apps seem su-weet!). i don't need my email at my fingertips all day long. but maybe i'm just totally missing out... what kind of phone do you rock?

my new school

we finally did something that was a little more exciting than shopping for house stuff, we went into the big city! we took public transportation and figured out our routes to school. we just need to nail down the bus schedule and we will be golden. our first stop was my school!

here it is:

we visited my campus (for the 1st time!) and it's great, i love it! and it's only two blocks away from the subway station. i picked up my id card, scoped out where my classes are, and checked out the bookstore. i am sooooo excited for school to start! aaaahhhhhh! hope i survive...

after checking out my school, we made our way to quincy market and the north end and walked around a little bit. it was fun, but exhausting in the heat. since we arrived home hot and tired, we spent the rest of the afternoon lounging poolside. it was wonderful.

WISHLIST wednesday: No. 13

today i wish for... these HOT PINK skinnies!
how fun are they? too bad they are way too expensive.
anyone know where i can get a pair for cheap?

try something new today

have you ever had a fresh peach?

well, i tried one when we were in baltimore and let me
tell you, they are delicious! i have been missing out all
these years, but now i am a PEACH LOVER. the same
thing happened with me and pineapple years ago.
maybe this is a
lesson teaching me to try the foods i "say" i don't like.

anyways...

there are fresh peaches in our fruit
bowl and we have been devouring them
almost daily. soooo tasty!

who knew??

don't worry, we recycle

we threw out the last box this morning. woot woot!

i can't believe it. we packed up our stuff and acutally moved across the country. wow! we are getting all settled and LOVING our place. we have a washer and dryer and way more storage (which means our camping gear doesn't have to hang out on the other side of my nightstand anymore, it's great!). we only have a couple of things to put away and hang on the wall and then we are done! i'm sure i will rearrange things over and over, but at least the last few piles left on the floor will be cleared. we might just be adults, especially since we also bought a couch today. aaaaaaahhhh! that was kind of nerve wracking - jeremy and i were both on the phone with our moms making sure we weren't being dumb. we don't do well with rash decisions. when we finally decided to buy the couch, we found out it was on backorder for about 3 weeks. dumb! but we already loved the style, color, and price at that point, so we decided to go with it. hopefully we will get it pretty soon, i can't wait!

getting there

we have been busy unpacking, buying, building, and organizing things and the place is starting to take shape. we still have a couple big purchases to make, but we are just about there. the bathroom is done and let me tell you... it is bright (and HUGE compared to our last one). i LOVE it! it feels like our home more and more everyday as the mess of boxes continues to diminish. we are getting more comfortable with the area and attempting to remember how to get places. thank heavens we have a gps or we would be out of luck... seriously! we officially have new boston phone numbers and we are getting the massachusetts plates tomorrow. woohoo! let's hope the dmv isn't a zoo!

we are loving life in boston!

now we get to unpack... awesome.
maybe we will eat some lunch first.

we made it!

today, we first went fishing at jeremy's favorite fishing hole.
it was pretty boring until i caught a fish. then it was AWESOME!

equipped with fishing waders, net, and pole - i am so ready!

then we had some lunch and got on the road. we drove through maryland,
delaware, new jersey, new york, conneticut, and massachusetts. i am pretty sure
new hampshire was in there somewhere, too. it's hard to keep track of these small states.

but they all looked the same... green and GREEN!

along the way, we donated our hub cap to the streets of new york city. we just thought they needed something of ours to remember us. it was our only casualty of the ENTIRE road trip.
it almost hit the mercedes driving behind us. oops!

about 7 hours after our departure we were welcomed by the bright lights of BOSTON!
woot woot!!

and then we shuffled our little feet into our empty apartment and dropped.
(notice our washer and dryer... SO sweet!)

good night!
