and i LOVE them!

what a great start to an already awesome weekend.
it's awesome because i don't have a lot of homework, i get to
be with my hot husband almost the whole weekend, we get to watch
general conference woot! woot!, and remember how i get to eat sweets?
yeah, this weekend ROCKS!!

i am trying the whole "don't-eat-desserts-during-the-week-thing." i am not sure it's that great. i haven't had any sweets for four days... woot woot! but now i am just REALLY looking forward to the weekend - way more than usual with these no bake cookies on the counter just staring at me. i keep planning all the delicious sweets i'm going to eat. so far a strawberry shake is definitely on the list. probably some caramel popcorn, too. what would you add? wait, don't tell me... this whole thing is supposed to be a healthy eating initiative. maybe i should limit it to ONE dessert each weekend. but that sounds hard. hopefully, i can reign it in this weekend and not go a-wall and eat everything in sight. wish me luck...

ok, that was lame. so anyways...

i started knitting a hat this morning. here it is so far:

i forgot how much i love to knit. it is so relaxing. i have a number
of projects lined up, so i better get going on them. i'm excited to make hats, ear
warmers, and scarves for the brutal winter that is bound to come.

now, that it's officially fall, let the knitting season begin!

ten minutes away

i went last week with some of the girls before school got crazy.

we wanted to get some sun in before the summer ended. i can't wait
to explore some of the other beaches around here next year.

fishtailing it

too bad my shorter layers completely fell out of it by three. eh, oh well.

i'm loving this.

i just finished my first week at my internship.
woot woot! (i go there 3 days a week and to school the other 2 days.)

sunday night i was a nervous & scared, and now i am just all sorts of excited. i have a fabulous field placement this year working in a residential treatment center for boys 13-17 dealing with drug abuse. i get experience in individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. i already have three clients, so they really just throw us right in. it is fascinating and i have learned so much already (drugs 101, anyone?). the people i work with are incredible and just so helpful and nice. i can't believe i lucked out with such an awesome placement, especially when i hear the horror stories of a few of my classmates. i am pretty busy, but i LOVE it. i feel clueless, but i still LOVE it. i will be learning so much in the next 8 months.

today was my birthday! YAY!

it was kind of a busy day with my birthday being on a monday. it was the
first day of my internship for school and jeremy had a full day of classes. we pretty
much celebrated the whole weekend though which was great. maybe we will celebrate
the rest of the week, too (that sounds AWESOME!). tonight we...

and ate cake and ice cream.

we had our famous wafer cake with black raspberry ice cream.

i am officially 23! the last year has been so exciting, it was my favorite.
but every year is my favorite, so i can't wait to see what the next year brings!

in the woods

last night we headed 25 minutes north and had a bonfire in the woods
of new england with some of our buds. i love this place more and more
all the time. it is so BEAUTIFUL! we roasted mallows, ate smores, and
told stories as we were mesmerized by the fire. what a great night!

i just received this e-mail from my professor:

Hi Class,
I've received emails from many of you indicating that you're having difficulty figuring out how to apply the assignment criteria to Chapters 1 and 2. This is a great question - because it's rather difficult and my error - I gave us one assignment too many, starting them too early in the book.

I AM CANCELING ASSIGNMENT #1. IT IS NOT DUE FRIDAY. THERE IS NOT A PAPER DUE FRIDAY. NO ASSIGNMENT IS DUE FRIDAY.

Still, read chapters 1 and 2. Come to class prepared to discuss them. Remember, flexibility is our motto.

my birthday is in one week, one week!...
and i love Love LOVE my birthday!

while i was in utah last weekend, i heard my mom tell someone, "Katie thinks her birthday should be a national holiday." i told jeremy and he responded, "It's so true." i guess it's kind of true. i just think birthdays are SO fun, especially my own. i think i just love anything that has to do with presents! so i have one week left to be 22! (well, 1 week, 1 hour and 45 minutes. i was born at 7:03 mst.) can't wait to eat some WAFER CAKE!

today i am teaching a relief society mini class on friendship bracelets.

a girl saw my bracelets i made earlier this summer and asked if i would be
willing to teach the girls in our ward. kinda funny. wish me luck!

he's been called

riley opened his mission call tonight!
man, one comes home and then the next one has to go. jeremy and i were on speaker
phone when he opened it... we didn't want to miss a thing. he has been
called to serve in the Thailand Bangkok Mission!
and he reports to the MTC January 25, 2012.


we are so excited for him! CONGRATS RILEY!

today was jeremy's first day of school.

he's on his way to being a DENTIST! woot woot!

the zoo was a zoo

today we went to the zoo (kind of).
we drove to the zoo, saw the rest of the city there with their strollers, and
kept driving. we ended up in park city and rode the alpine slide instead.

plan b turned out perfect!

back to utah

today i finally got to see my little brother after two years of missing him. yay! he looks GREAT! jeremy is a champ and let me take off for the long weekend. thank you sweetheart! we started the day by eating breakfast at magelby's fresh, where we also ate just before sammy reported to the mtc. then we headed to sundance to commune with nature. it was beautiful.

it's been a while since we were all together.

after walking around in the hot sun in the mountains, we had to stop for some shave ice.

i got cream soda and blackberry with cream on top. love the combo!

later we headed to salt lake, took naps, and caught up on movies sammy missed. luckily, we have a couple more days to play before i have to get back to boston for school. can't wait for games and more movies tonight.
