Rejoice!

For I know that our Redeemer lives!

I know that my Redeemer lives.
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead.
He lives, my ever-living Head.
He lives to bless me with his love.
He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed.
He lives to bless in time of need.
He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"

some pie with my cool whip

here's a delicious treat with only 5 ingredients!
which are all delicious on their own so you know it's going to be good.

raspberry pineapple pie
12 oz frozen raspberries
8 oz crushed pineapple
1 pkg vanilla pudding (cook and serve)
graham cracker crust
 cool whip for topping

dump the fruit and pudding mix in a pan.
heat and stir until you have a saucy mixture.
pour into crust and chill.  top with cool whip.  enjoy!

so easy!  and tasty.  you can even switch out the raspberries for strawberries if you prefer.  i got the original recipe from here (my friend is one of the hosts... go elora!).

coming up for air

this week was full of fun... stress.

there i said it.  i have been stressed.  the last two weekends have been dedicated to family time on the other side of this blessed country, which is wonderful and truly all fun and games until the flight home, when we realize we didn't do any homework, we are in withdrawal already from missing our families, worried about the time zone change for that early monday morning, and trying to mentally prepare for the busy week ahead filled with assignments, papers, and tests.  sunday night i was certain that this would be the week of a major meltdown.  but i managed to hold it together and crank out a big paper wednesday night in record time. which i turned in last night, so i am feeling much better today.  lazy, for sure.  but much better.  i have been sitting on the couch all day... and it's almost 3.  i did shower, but put my jammies back on and have been devouring easter candy and ice water while chipping away at homework.  you know, that homework just doesn't quit.  it's hard to get actual rest in when i know there is more homework on the horizon, or at the doorstep rather.  so i suppose i have dedicated the day to homework (and blogging) so i can have a stress-free week next week - like that ever happens in grad school.  i just noticed the birthday banner is still up and jeremy's birthday was 3.5 weeks ago. oh boy.

4 more weeks of classes and 5 more weeks of my internship!

first interview

i had my first interview this morning -for a real social work job-
and i here i am all ready for the shindig:

oh yes... i am in a suit!  holler.

the catch is, my interview was over the phone.
ha.  i know... i think i am so funny.

i remember in high school taking one of my AP tests and a girl showed up to the test in a bright red dress with heels.  i was so confused by her attire.  i was proudly sporting moccasin slippers and sweatpants.  i remember her citing some research to a group of curious peers about dressing for success to be in the right mentality blah, blah, blah.  i didn't apply her logic for the rest of my AP tests that year (which may or may not be the reason i had mixed results), but i figured hey, why not apply it 7 years later.  so as my phone rang at 9:01 this morning (he was a minute late), i jumped into my ruffly black flats, gathered my resume, and perched myself confidently on the couch.  i was ready to rock it.  turns out that i was interviewing them.  he barely asked me any questions, his main one being, "Do you have any questions for me?"  he told me about the position, benefits, duties, supervision, pay, training opportunities, etc. and then at the end asked, "Do you want to think about it and get back to me or would you like to come in for another interview?"  well, seeing as i am jobless and could learn a TON in the position, i of course said i want to come in.  and that is how i got another interview folks.  i got some real skills.  so my in-person interview is set up for next week.  yay!  i might have to actually answer some questions this time though... hopefully i won't choke.

early easter

while in utah this weekend i convinced my parents we should celebrate easter! i love pretending i am a little kid and doing our traditions together. my parents hide our baskets, tie yarn to them, and lead it all over the house. we have to follow the yarn until we find them, going under tables, up stairs, over banisters, through tight spaces, all around outside even.  it's not as fun when jeremy and i try to do it with each other.  my dad got tricky this year.  i saw that my string went in and then out of the laundry room so i just pulled on it to gather my string and continued on.  i was eventually led to a closet.  before i yanked open the door i said to jeremy, "i found mine, you are the last one!" (because sam was the first, but his yarn ball was a mess, so i say he cheated) only to discover that my easter loot was no where to be found.  the closet was void of easter cheer and full of only coats.  my parents just laughed and laughed.  i retraced my steps and found my prize in the laundry room, but not before both boys had already found theirs and i truly was last.  they really enjoyed that part.  after loving on our easter treasures (i got a crazy-cool scarf and new RUNNING SHOES!) we enjoyed a breakfast of champs: homemade buttermilk biscuits and strawberries and cream.  yum.  i sure love family traditions.

celebrating love

jeremy's little sister got married today!

hooray!  we love celebrating love.  true love.

it was quite the party and i enjoyed every minute of it.  the great company, the food, the everlasting dancing.  i love any party when dancing is included, especially when jeremy joins in. congrats wendy and kevin!  what a lovely, perfect day!

deficient

coming back to real life after spring break is sure a doozy. throw in a significant time change, a snow storm, and a sniffling husband and we are a real delight around here. but things are going well i suppose, everything except for spring.  that is not going well at all.  i got a little sneak peek of how wonderful and refreshing temperatures above the 50s can be last week (they were actually almost in the 70s!!) and i am suddenly so frustrated with this looooong winter we seem to having.  i was enjoying the snow... but now i am officially done with enjoying it. forget it. i refuse. i am ready for some sun and so is my bodily vitamin D supply. did you know that almost everyone living north of philly is vitamin D deficient?  true story.  jeremy told me so.  someone else confirmed it sometime in the recent past, too.  turns out that the sun hits everywhere north of philly (so that includes ME!) at some weird angle and during the winter months the sun rays we get are void of vitamin D.  crazy.  i am thirsty for the stuff i tell you.  summer is looking real good right now. i need a hot pool day right about now so i can soak in some sun.  dreamy.  spring, please come soon.  we would be really grateful.

p.s. off to utah again tomorrow for a WEDDING!  it will be a quick trip, so here's to more cross-country flights.

a cozy creature

all of my knitting last week amounted to this cozy creature:

a koala bear!
can you believe it?!  it's definitely homemade, but cozy all the same.

week recap

so i guess i was having too much fun last week to blog. i was also too lazy to take any pictures.  these are the only few i took (which have already appeared on instagram):

i found these lovelies hidden in the laundry room. my absolute favorite!

we went out to breakfast at our favorite local dive.

 and we celebrated pi day!

the week was also filled with shopping, eating delicious treats, movies, pedicures,
knitting (lots of knitting), games, and visiting family.  it was fun and totally relaxing.
jeremy sure missed me.  i came home last night to be greeted by these goodies.
flowers, string cheese, oreos, cinnamon rolls, and my teeth finally mounted.
he's the sweetest!

from the mountains

i have been missing these mountains.

i flew the coop and took off for utah for my last spring break (can you believe it??!).  jeremy's spring break is different than mine, so i figured i would go play instead of be bored at home by myself - and when your mom offers to buy your plane ticket you jump on that mess (perks of being poor students).  so i will be hanging with my fam all week.  we have all sorts of fun things planned.  you know, shopping, pedicures, cross-country skiing, knitting parties... great things.

the celebrations

for jeremy's birthday we went out to dinner, opened presents (i sent him on a scavenger hunt to find a... fishing pole), and ate cake and ice cream.  funfetti cake and mint chocolate chip ice cream that is, it's his favorite. jeremy likes to have low-key birthdays (i on the other hand want parties and pinatas), so it was just me and him.  i think it is hilarious when i am the only one singing to him. :) we sure have a good time!

not just a white coat

Today was Jeremy's White Coat Ceremony!
It marks the transition from the classroom to the clinic.  He will be working on patients soon!

Here they are:

And their lovely supporters (in the same order as the boys):
Reminds me of the pictures we took last summer.
(Oh how I miss summer right now!)

After the ceremony they fed us lunch and I was starving.
So starving in fact that I tried the salad and it wasn't terrible.
Before and After
Jeremy was shocked (hey, I was shocked!), but the dressing was delicious.

YAY!  Way to go babe.  You have a white coat... with your name on it. I am so proud!

Your Body Rocks: Day 5

I thought I would join in on the good old blog to promote some self-love around here.  Each day this week I will issue a challenge (ideas from the the NEDA website), something you can do to promote a healthy body image, because I am sure we could all learn to love our bodies a little more.

Challenge #5:
Read an article or watch a video and pass it along.

Let's take a stand against media that sends demeaning messages about our bodies.  Let's begin to talk in supportive ways.  Let's help each other increase our body image, self-esteem, and self-worth.  Let's examine our relationships with our bodies, food, and exercise and strive for greater health and balance in all these areas.   Let's not be afraid to talk about it with each other.  Let's learn what healthy eating really is.  Let's love our bodies.

Thanks for coming along with me this week in raising awareness about Eating Disorders.
I hope you learned something about how to love your body!
