on the farm

yesterday we went to our favorite farm to pick some peaches.
picking fresh fruit is one of my favorite things to do here.

jeremy's favorite part was taste testing.

we found some nectarine trees and since we LOVE nectarines (delicious, without the fuzz... score!), we picked a ton of those, too.  peaches and nectarines are my new favorite fruits.  and when they are farm fresh, they are just so tasty!

early risers

this morning we set our alarms for 5:30. we had big morning plans.

we first stopped at our favorite donut shop, kane's, to get their famous goods
and then we were off to the beach to watch the sunrise.

don't we look lovely when we roll right out of bed?... almost.

we sat on the wall, ate donuts, chatted about life, watched the seagulls fight over their breakfast, and witnessed the sky continuously change.  it was a pretty foggy morning, so we didn't see the sun creep up from the horizon like i had hoped, but it was a gorgeous moment all the same.
and now we have an excuse to do it again.

the fruits of my first panoramic attempts, i have some practice to do.

the sun eventually made its appearance in all it's glory and it was beautiful (the picture doesn't hardly do it justice).  for some reason i have been so in awe of the beauty in nature around me. the sky is especially fascinating.  fascinating and beautiful at every point of the day.  the clouds, the colors, the moon, the sun... i love it all.

after we had our fill of the early morning beach, we came home, climbed back into bed, and slept for two more hours.  what an awesome morning?!

let me buy you a tonic

for our morning date we went golfing.
it was just us and the old folks out on the course today, so of course we had a wonderful time.

i found a five dollar bill on one of the tees. true story! i gasped in surprise, my typical gasp that makes jeremy think we are about to get run over by a car, and told jeremy "i am rich!" as i pocketed the bill.  after he realized we were indeed safe, he said we should probably check with the group in front of us to see if they dropped it before we deem it ours, which of course i was going to do.  you should always try to return money, because they just might give it back to you, you know to reward you for being honest, and then you can have the money and a clear conscience.  at the end of the round, i found two of the three old men ahead of us in the clubhouse and asked them about the money.  unfortunately, it was one of theirs and i returned the cash to the rightful owner.  the conversation that followed was quite hilarious.  the guy thanked me for being honest and was trying to buy me drinks (a tonic - which i'm still not sure what that is.  i told him i was going to get slurpees - which were delicious - he probably thought i was 15), their buddy came in and announced, "here's our heavy hitter," while looking at me and i am completely confused, they seemed to think i could drive the ball well because they wanted driving lessons, and the other other guy started asking me if i am from here, i told them i was from out west and they decided that was the reason i was so honest, because i'm "not from around here," we laughed and i told them to enjoy the day, while the first man was still trying to buy me a drink.  funny guys.  they made my day.

well fed

we spent quite a bit of our day at the temple and had a lovely time.

i love that place.  it brings comfort, strength, and peace into my life.  i know God knows me, my heart, and my worries.  he cares, he listens, and he answers.

when we were getting ready to leave, we found our good friends, eric and noelle, at the temple with eric's family (that came up from new york).  i love surprises!! we had quick introductions, chatted, and took pictures in front of the beautiful building. we invited them to get some grub with us at our pre-determined destination the Blue Ribbon BBQ (a place we wanted to try and only 6 minutes from the temple).   luckily, eric and noelle's gang were in the market for dinner and up for a some extras at their family dinner, so we scooted on over to the cool place.

the food was great and we all loved the atmosphere.  jeremy and i both ordered pulled pork sandwiches with green beans and mashed potatoes.  (we are soooo married.)  i tried to save enough of mine to take home seconds and it was tough to hold back.  i have already decided it will be the-after-temple-dining-spot.  it's too good NOT to go back!

it's always nice to be so well fed, spiritually and physically.  what a super day!

swans and pizza

yesterday morning we played in the city before i had to go to work.

i have been dying to ride the swan boats since we moved here and we finally did it.  they were established in the public garden way back in 1877.  i still can't believe the drivers have to pedal to take us around the pond.  i bet they have legs of steel!  the pond has ducks, swans, and we even saw a turtle swimming around.

after the boat ride, we went to jeremy's favorite pizza place.  it's right across the street from his school.  i got a slice of the honey glazed chicken and jeremy got a slice of cheese.  it was tasty!

it was such a fun morning. i love playing in the city!
