happy halloween!

from a bunch of party animals!!

game six

for game six, i went to fenway... of course!
i headed downtown with dane and aimee to see the excitement. (jeremy was hanging out with the young men at church and then was coming to meet us.)  it was a hopping place!

we walked around, trying to find tvs to see what was going on.  we could definitely hear it all, we were right behind the green monster, and we knew the sox were rocking it with all the cheering going on.  i decided i had to have a hat to commemorate the event since we were of course going to win!

we found a sweet set up in the parking lot right behind the green monster.  they were decked out with a radio, a tv, posters, and mits in case a homer cleared the park.  they let us hang out with them so we could see the happenings of the game.  it was pretty awesome!

at about the 5th inning there was a huge mob trying to break into the park, so the police cleared everyone out.  we somehow were allowed to stay in the parking lot with a few other fans, which was a stroke of wonderful luck.  the police barricaded us in and no one else was getting in without a ticket to the game. the bad news, jeremy hadn't arrived yet.  he was barricaded out and there was no way of him getting in, believe me... he tried!

so after i got my feel of fenway and realized that we were most certainly going to win the game, i left to meet up with jeremy.  i wanted to avoid the crowds and craziness that was going to be coming out of the park when the game ended.  we met up at the devoted prudential building seriously minutes before the sox won.  we got to watch the winning pitch from the sidewalk on a restaurant's tv and then the horn honking and hollering began (well, continued... it had already begun).  we gave a good yell, kissed a celebratory kiss, and headed home to our cozy bed.

a bit of whimsey

my parents gave me a 3 month subscription to whimseybox for my birthday and
my first one arrived this week.  it had all the directions and supplies, and some little extras thrown in there, too.  here is the final project i made:

i hand-sewed this little pouch complete with snaps.  i plan to use it for my calligraphy nib holders and drawing pencils.  it's the perfect size!  so far i'm sold on whimseybox.  i may be adding it to my christmas list this year to keep the crafting coming.  nothing like a gift that keeps on giving way beyond the actual celebration.

carving away

last night we carved pumpkins.  well, i kind of took over and carved the whole thing, but jeremy was a good sport and let me.  he also dug through the pumpkin guts to save the seeds so we could roast them (a first for me).  they were WAY better than i imagined.  they have a popcorn taste which is always delicious and i guess they are full of all sorts of nutrients that our bodies need so that's a plus, too.

we carved a zombie busting out of its grave.  i think it is pretty sweet.  i love the skull on the gravestone.  it reminds me of the skulls on the ancient gravestones around boston.  i totally want my gravestone to have one.  i'm working on convincing jeremy.  anyways... i love our carved pumpkin.  we might carve the mini one, too... just to keep the festivities going.  there can never be enough pumpkin guts this time of year.

today marks...

six years of kissing this sweet boy!

we had our first kiss six years ago after an ice cream date.  of course we celebrated with ice cream sundaes tonight on the way home.  who knew that kiss would be my last first kiss?! i'm so glad it was and that i get to kiss jeremy anytime i want.  he's my favorite!

the arboretum

sunday afternoon we met some friends, erika and ryan (and corgi beacon), at the arboretum to spend some quality time in nature (we missed you cassandra!).  the arboretum is pretty much boston's backyard.  it was designed by frederick law olmsted, who also co-designed central park.  we wandered the paths and watched beacon try to chase anything on wheels.  it was quite entertaining.

the colors were amazing. deep reds, vibrant oranges, we loved it.  last night jeremy declared it the most beautiful fall we have witnessed and i couldn't agree more.  this fall has been dreamy and we continue to get blessed with gorgeous weather - sunny in the mid 60s, just the way fall should be.

saturday in the city

after sleeping in and playing tennis, we ventured into the city.

i had a drawing class for a couple of hours (awesome birthday present from my parents), so while i was exploring my creativity, jeremy worked on some lab stuff for school.

here's my work at the beginning of the class:
it was really fun and the teacher is a hoot and a total expert.
we will see what next week's class brings.

i was loving the boston streets as i walked over to get jeremy after my class.

then we walked over to the esplanade along the charles river.

we wanted to see the rowing races at the head of the charles regatta so we walked on down to the starting line, or starting buoys actually.

there were teams and rowers of all ages out there racing. it was really cool!
after all of our walking, we found ourselves by fenway park so we got some dinner as we watched the lucky fans heading into the game.  (and can we talk about those sox!?!?  i love this town!)

it was a gorgeous day!

Red's Kitchen and Tavern

our quest for the best: BREAKFAST PLACE

round 6

Red's Kitchen and Tavern
131 Newbury St, Peabody, MA 01960

the deets:
the food: i got scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, homefries, sourdough toast, and hot chocolate and jeremy ordered cinnamon french toast.  don't worry... jeremy helped me eat mine.  the food was good.  it wasn't jaw-dropping delicious and it was perfectly adequate.  the portions were pretty large! we struggled to wipe our plates clean.

prices: the prices were average.  about 8.00 for mine including my hot chocolate and 8.00 for jeremy's special of the day.

service: the service was fine.  it seemed to take our server a while to take our order and besides that it was just great.

the verdict:
the food was good and we were pleasantly full.  i don't think anything could be categorized as amazing, but it was delicious.  the hot chocolate, the home fries, the French toast... it was all tasty.  this place was right on the way to the farm to pick pumpkins which was a major plus.  i would definitely go again if i was heading in that direction and probably wouldn't go way out of my way to go.  there are places closer to us that offer the same plates.

pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins

we hit up our local farm yesterday morning for some quality time at the pumpkin patch (after going out to breakfast of course). jeremy had columbus day off of school, so we played in the morning before i had to go to work to make the big bucks. we spent quite a bit of time searching for the perfect pair of pumpkins to take home with us.  we wanted a medium one, big enough to carve, and small enough it won't take over our counter and a small, vibrant one to be it's companion. luckily, we found the perfect pair.  there were so many to choose from and we are certain we have the best. now we get to plan a pumpkin carving party!  i love the fall.
