camping with the fam, part I

we went camping this weekend and we had SO
much fun! the red rocks and hoodoos are so cool and my mom sure knows
how to plan some great food. it was an awesome trip!

FRIDAY
we got to camp early enough to set up our gear before it got too dark and
then we just sat around the fire and strummed the ole' guitar- that none of us know how to play.

SATURDAY
we started off the day with hot chocolate and delicious pancakes to warm our cold bodies.

then we tackled a vigorous hike (ok... so it was only 3 miles, but it was BEAUTIFUL!)

it was hot!! but notice the matching orange bandannas... we are so cool.

we made up a song to keep us going on the hike and when i say "we", i mean "i". but riley at
least marched with me and attempted to sing the words. here is how the little diddy went:
we love camping yes we do
if you don't believe us look at our shoes
they are dirty and we are proud
and we like to make lots of sound
left, right, left, right, left, right

we explored bryce canyon for a while more and then we did some
dutch oven cooking for dinner and had bbq chicken and cheesy potatoes. yum!!

and we finished the night off with s'mores!! we tried them with ande's mints
this time... they are way good too, but i think i still like the peanut butter cups the best.
