Brave Women

Ashmae is an artist that I think is pretty cool.  

I have her SLC Temple painting and her Love Birds painting that I just adore:

Besides being an awesome artist, she is also a great advocate!  She started an awesome movement called, "We Brave Women" and is now on Kickstarter for her project called "Brave Women Art Cards."  She has painted and researched 50 amazing women in history and wants to make a deck of art cards that share a painting and brief history of each woman.  

History is biography, written mostly (if not always) by men and women are often left out of the accounts. There are many of the women that she has included that I know nothing about... and that makes me so sad.  I want to know more about these women that have come before me and the amazingly brave things they have accomplished.  I want the women around me to know.  I want my future children to know, that women can do big and courageous things that can change the world.  I want them to know that they can do those things, too.

I am passionate about her project and would think it's totally cool if you feel the same way.  Feel free to check out her Kickstarter to buy your own deck and then (please!) spread the word.  I am definitely buying at least two decks.  I want to give one to every little girl for their birthday.  Celebrate the brave women in your life.  Celebrate the brave woman that is YOU!

day 12: we had a lazy morning and hit up the mall for a few hours to spend our christmas money on some great deals.

that purse was $15 and i got those burgundy cords from banana for $10 (originally $80, reduced to $60, 50% off all reduced items, minus $20 in gap rewards = $10 cords!!!)

...on these fun pants i wore today. aren't they fabulous?! they are khakis so i can wear these beauties to work. and they are soooo comfortable. the light orange pair may be next if coupons and rewards keep coming my way.

oh boy do i LOVE colored pants.

so want to hear the deal? i just love to share. the pants were originally $50, i had a 40% off coupon for one regular-priced item (which took $20 off the price), and then $30 in gap rewards which made them completely free! so i threw in a shirt (not pictured) which was originally $22, but on clearance for $9 and was an extra 30% off. so the whole ensemble was $6.26. oh yes! jeremy was with me and witnessed the awesomeness of the event and was totally floored.

i must say... my momma taught me a thing or two about shopping.

i got these coral jeans today and i LOVE them!

i love them even more because i waited for the perfect moment to buy them and got an
awesome deal. i had a 30% off a regular priced item coupon that was good for this weekend
only (which took $18 off the price) and then i had $40 in gap rewards that i have
been saving, so my grand total came to $1.96. oh yes... these jeans are wonderful.

It came!

I received this beauty (on the right) in the mail today.

I am sure a happy girl. I bought it off of Etsy two weeks ago and I had to wait sooooo long for it to arrive. But it finally came! YAY! I love the little camera! It makes me want to go take TONS of pictures of the pretty changing leaves outside. Isn't fall so beautiful! I love all the colors!

busy busy weekend

THURSDAY

we met my family at my great-grandparent's ranch (on my dad's side)

us kids went on a wild adventure on the rhinos... (those cool little cars)

we saw pretty landscapes, big puddles, and wildlife

The boys tried to shoot some prairie dogs, but ended up shooting McDonald's toys instead (they don't move as fast).

FRIDAY

we spent the day at Seven Peaks with my mom's side of the family (my cousins, etc)

SATURDAY

we had a family reunion (lunch) with extended family members (my mom's cousins, etc), but we found some cousins we knew

and finally the Bijou Market...

I sold some earrings. yay! it was fun to see all of the cool handmade things.

It was a very fun-filled weekend.
