BOSTON MARATHON

oh yes we witnessed this amazing event!

in fact we were there and ready to go at 8:30, approximately 3.5 hours before a runner crossed the finish line, but those on wheels came in around 10:30 so there was definitely some action. we hung out on the sweet bleachers and wandered around the finish line for about an hour until some volunteer told everyone we had to have "the right credentials" to sit there and we better move or else! (or else the police were going to clear us out.) so we hit the streets after an hour of dawdling about and still scored a sweet spot to cheer on those runners!

the first finishers in their categories: wheelchair, women, men.

the 1st place winner in the wheelchair set a new record and was ahead of everyone by a long shot (it felt like 10 minutes, but it was more like 3). 1st place for women's was from kenya (so was 1st place men's) and she had a sweet outfit on and so did the girl behind her. those kenyan's can run far and FAST!

the streets were packed. it was worth it to get there early and just hang out. we also had beautiful weather which may have made the whole experience even better.

it was amazing watching everyone cross the finish line. there were times when i thought i was going to start crying. there was so much excitement in the crowd and so much exhaustion in the runners. we were all screaming, clapping, and ringing cowbells like crazy to encourage them to go just a little further. i loved hearing the crowd down the road start cheering because then we knew a runner was coming. it was just so great. what an incredible experience!?? we LOVED it! i am so glad we have three more years of this fun! next year i think i want to be at the top of heartbreak hill.
