rhode island: day 2

tuesday

we started off the day by exploring the huge mansions!
we saw the breakers and the marble house.

they were CRAZY fancy!  we weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but they were amazing.  one room was coated in 22 karat gold leaf!  what a different world.

after some lunch we rented bikes and rolled around the city.  it was my favorite.  i decided that we should try to rent bikes every place we visit.

we wandered around goat island,

the piers on newport,

and the cute neighborhoods.

we pretty much owned the road.

after all of our bike riding, we settled on the gas lamp grille for dinner.

it was so delicious.  i got some steak tips (seriously the best steak i have ever had) and a virgin pina colada.  the waiter was confused as to why on earth i would just want crushed ice and flavored syrup, seemed like the perfect combo to me and it certainly was.

we walked home as the sun was setting to go play games and watch movies.

i love this place.  two days left!!
