On Friday we headed to Huntington Beach with my family...
one of our favorite places. It was also Riley's day of birth, so we celebrated with hot dogs and s'mores around the fire.
Here's the birthday boy! Rye is the big 1-7!
(I was loving the hot dogs and my matching outfit. stripes & plaid anyone? )
We bought the hats as a joke...but then we all actually wore them. We thought we were pretty funny. As soon as we put the hats on, the people at the next pit started singing happy birthday. It was magical.
Lesson Learned - Party hats are essential for every birthday.
Best idea (ever!) for some tasty s'mores- use reese's peanut butter cups instead of hershey's chocolate. So good!
We hit the beach again the next day for some fun in the sun. See more here.

You're married now. You don't have to match. Only on special occassions.
I also prefer reese's peanut butter cups in my s'mores. I actually like to break all the graham crackers into little pieces, the reese's also into little pieces, add mini marshmallows, wrap it all in foil and put it just near enough to the fire to melt it into one big mess of deliciousness. Or, if there are no reese's around, I use chocolate chips and put in a spoonful of peanut butter.
ooo.. sounds way good jill!
