our date night

i had high hopes for the night, but it became pretty comical.

we tried a new place for dinner, a thai place. it was a little hole in the wall and neither of us have ever had thai, but we figured it would be close to chinese so we went for it. jeremy ordered something he couldn't pronounce, but the description made the entree out to be beef and veggies in sweet and sour sauce. he was playing it safe (lucky dog). i went with the chicken pineapple curry thinking, "i like curry."

jeremy got his food first and it looked pretty good, although there were WAY too many veggies (for my liking at least). then my curry came out and it was in a bowl with this weird flat spoon thing in it. i was kind of confused. how do i eat this? do i eat it like a soup? so i did eat it like soup. it tasted pretty weird and i ended up just fishing out the chicken with the weird shaped spoon. when i got sick of mine i tasted some of jeremy's food, but the sweet and sour sauce was pretty bland. then i saw that another couple in the restaurant got a bowl like mine and they were putting it on their plates on top of rice. oops! so i started doing the same. but by this time most of the chicken was gone and all i had were veggies and pineapple in a weird sauce, so it wasn't very good. jeremy seemed to be liking his food okay (i was SO jealous). we joked about stopping by a fast food place after, quietly of course. finally we left, less than satisfied... i guess we are not fans of thai food.

after our glorious dinner, we got a redbox movie ("the box"), bought some popcorn and theater candy, and headed home for a movie night. as we were driving home the hubcap to our right front tire rolled off. we heard/saw a hubcap roll away as we were driving through an intersection and then pulled over a little ways down to discover it was our hubcap. jeremy ran back, grabbed it and i drove home with the hubcap in his lap. we sat in the parking lot and tried to get it securely fastened to the wheel, but no luck. we left it out there carefully placed on the wheel and i figured we would deal with it later. jeremy thought he would research it right that second though. so we started the movie with me sitting on the couch eating the popcorn and jeremy sitting on the floor researching hubcaps. how romantic? he eventually joined me on the couch, but not until the popcorn was completely gone (yeah... i ate it ALL. great.)

now let's get to the movie: "the box" have you seen this? well, it is crazy. i thought it was going to be some drama about whether or not to push the button. but it is some sci-fi scary movie. not what we were expecting. at one point, i paused it so i could breathe for a second because it was getting rather creepy- it slightly reminded me of "the ring." at that point jeremy googled the movie so we could find out what happens. after we read almost the entire ending (lame, i know), we started it again. jeremy was distracted from the horror because he kept his computer out and read up on the most recent articles about kobe on espn.com while i tried to be distracted by eating the candy we purchased (milk duds and mini twix bars).

eventually the movie ended and we were both perplexed at the craziness of it all. we both had questions that were left unanswered and pessimistic thoughts about the human race. it was really a weird movie.

and.... then we went to bed.

so there was our amazing date night. what a night?! even though the actual events were less than perfect, the night with jeremy was still fun. we laughed a lot (... at ourselves) and still had a great time.

but here's to a better night tonight... we won't be trying anything new for a while, just our tried and true favorites.

hahaha- you have no idea how hard I just laughed- you ate the curry like soup!! The pineapple chicken curry is actually my favorite dish, but I can't imagine it would taste very good without the rice!
