Paradise Snow

our quest for the best: {shave ice edition}

round 5

Paradise Snow
across from The Creamery on 9th

richie and i both got extra smalls. jeremy didn't want one (crazy!), so i shared with
him- a little bit. i got the maui tai- it was peachy and delicious. richie got the ever popular
tiger's blood- and said he wouldn't get it again... it's way overrated.

we went last night after we played some catch in the park.

the deets

prices: it was $2 for an extra small (it equaled the small at other places), their
jumbo was only $3.75 and its huge, cream is ALWAYS FREE, ice cream on the
bottom for .50, no extra for tax, only take cash or check

flavors: good selection of flavors with already-mixed-combos (so
the lady might not know exactly what's in it, like with my maui tai)

loyalty bonus: no special card- and i even remembered to ask

seating: two plastic benches plus curbs

misc: give you a spooned straw and a napkin, not crowded, have music,
FREE CREAM but chunkier ice, not on facebook

the verdict

the FREE CREAM is obviously a plus and they have a good flavor selection,
but still not as good as the SURF N SLURP. the ice quality here was probably the worst so
far -big chunks all over- leaving Hokulia as the best. i still think Paradise Bay has the nicest
seating. i might still come back here though... the FREE CREAM was good. and FREE!

I have to admit, I'm very intrigued by this quest and get really excited every time you post about a new place :)

I'm curious, you've kind of listed what you think is the best in different categories (seating, ice quality, selection) but so far what do you think is best overall?

We love Surf N Slurp. We go there every time!

Heidi- My favorites are Surf N Slurp and Hokulia. I would probably go to the Surf N Slurp because you can get smaller sizes and the variety of flavors they offer is INCREDIBLE! But if you are a shave ice snob(I'm not to that point yet)- the shave ice quality is best at Hokulia. Hope that helps.

Rebecca- I'm with you! Surf N Slurp is great and they just opened up a second location on Center and 100 East.
