thanksgiving party, day 3

we did some black friday shopping in the late night hours and in the morning. and it paid off because we got some sweet deals!  after recuperating, we started off for the North End to finish up the freedom trail.

we enjoyed our mandatory treat stop. we were going to try Modern Pastry, but Mike's line goes faster.  we will have to try Modern some other time.  regardless, i think i am sold on the whoopie pies... DELICIOUS!

checking out the old north church:

making our way through charlestown to the bunker hill monument.

sam climbed to the top.  you are a champ, little brother!

we took the ferry back to the city to give our leggies a break and catch the sweet views.

as we wandered back to the hotel we stumbled upon the Macy's tree lighting just as the countdown began.  we couldn't believe our timing.  the whole event was complete with confetti.  confetti is my new favorite!

it rocked! then the evening consisted of the new james bond movie for the boys and knitting and online christmas shopping for the girls.  we know how to divide and conquer.

from the mouth of the missionary

with all the thanksgiving party posts i couldn't help but think of my favorite missionary all the way in thailand he emailed this picture and caption this week:

"With our P-day coming to an end as the sun dropped below the horizon we decided to go fishing. We made a quick stop at a market to acquire a fishing pole, some hooks, and some pork sausage balls and found a nice spot on the river to drop our line. Apparently fish hate the pork sausage creations even more than we do because we didn't catch anything."

oh, he cracks me up!  ... i miss him.

thanksgiving party, day 2

now that dad had arrived we could begin the boston tour.
we started at beacon hill and then slowly moved along the freedom trail.

acorn street... aren't they the cutest?!

my family rocks!  we were missing little riley out in thailand.

after taking in ALL the history (my dad and sam read all the plaques) along 1/2
of the freedom trail, we had lunch at Cheers in Quincy Market.

after we moseyed on back to the hotel for an afternoon nap, we wandered to Joe's on Newbury Street, our chosen destination for Thanksgiving Dinner.

it worked out great!  they had a turkey dinner option, that surprisingly 4 out of 5 of us went for.  the desserts were delicious, too.  we got all varieties and did some passing around the table.  it was a delicious, worry and dish-free holiday dinner... our favorite kind.  :)

we ended the night seeing Lincoln with our grateful hearts and full bellies.

thanksgiving party, day 1

let's go back to last week's festivities
because they are WAY more fun then this week's belly button drama.

my mom and little brother flew in tuesday night, so wednesday we started the
morning off with our favorite breakfast place around the corner.

then we ventured south to Plimouth Plantation
to get in touch with the history of the holiday.

we learned a lot about the real history... sobering stuff.

 this bull was my favorite.

then we scooted over to the famous Plymouth Rock...
(which was kind of hilarious)

and the Mayflower II, a replica of the original. we had 10 ancestors aboard the Mayflower, so it was cool to see where they lived.  who knew i was getting back to my roots by moving out here??

then we stopped in a little local place for dinner, headed to our hotel in the city, and picked up the pops from the airport.
