Date Night

One of Jeremy's coworkers, Julie, has a band: the Julia Shea Band. So we went down to Bennington to watch her work her magic last night.  We found that they have quite the following. The evening was just lovely.  The weather was ideal, we had tasty treats (Jeremy had some cinnamon sugar chips, I had a delicious cream soda complete with great words to live by), and we sang along with fun live music.

And some dancing of course... I couldn't just sit there!!



We stopped on the roadside to watch the moonrise from the mountains on the way home... and it was AMAZING!  And then we stopped at our local Arlington dairy bar and I got a strawberry marshmallow shake - so gooood.  The chocolate marshmallow shake is also to die for, so I have decided anything mixed with marshmallow cream is just the best. Now you know... you can thank me later.  So we will chalk all of that goodness up to a date night success! Life is just wonderful.

Welcome Sunshine, Please Stay

We had some wonderful sunshine yesterday morning, so Jeremy and I got out there to play some tennis for the first time this year.  (It was also the first time my leggies have seen the sun this year.)  It was way too much fun.  I love tennis.  I love being up at the net.  Jeremy knows to hit them really hard and right at me when I am at the net, because I just love it. 

In the afternoon we headed into the city to see the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.  I loved the Courtyard and Jeremy loved the fact that 2 thieves stole 13 pieces of art from the museum - a real live heist. 

After soaking in the beauty of the Courtyard, we wandered all around the museum wishing we knew a little more about history.  There were amazing tapestries, intricately carved screens and sculptures, and paintings galore.  My other favorite part was the Studio where Jeremy and I made our own mosaic tiles to take home (for free!!).

The artist running the studio pointed out that Jeremy and I did the same basic radial pattern.  (We also ordered the same entree at dinner after our museum adventure.)  We are soooo married.

I also really loved this Secret Flower Sculpture on exhibit.

 It's so cool!  It's a peony... and I love peonies... and its made of glass beads.  WHAT?!

Amazing!

 We walked over to my alma mater (Simmons College, which is right next to the museum) after we explored the art.  We walked around the small campus and reminisced about our first time checking it out about 4 years ago.  Oh, how time flies!  Then we got some delicious dinner in the city and took the subway home.  It was a perfect day date.

Straight Masterpieces

Jeremy and I had crepes for dinner (and dessert) and then finished the night with some pottery painting on Saturday.  I did the same things with my friends in November and loved it so much that I had to take Jeremy.  We had a great time.

Jeremy made a light-blue-and-red-dots-ice-cream-dish and I made a light-blue-on-the-inside-and-orange-designs-serving-bowl.  I have to say, I think these are the best things that have ever come out of a painting date... we've come a long way.  We can't wait to get our pieces back!

zoo lights

 

saturday night we went to the stone zoo to experience the zoo lights.  it was quite the hopping place. 

and now we have this gem of a picture with a reindeer hiney...
Merry Christmas everybody!

after spending some quality time with the animals and the festive lights, we had some pizza for dinner (where even jeremy thought the gluten free crust was good) and watched corny christmas movies late into the night.  it was a pretty awesome date.

new england loves hockey

we drove down to rhode island for some hockey with some friends on friday night.

i have been to only one or two hockey games in my life, so basically everything i know about hockey i learned from the mighty ducks.  the game was pretty intense and the bruins (the feeder team) lost by one point.  it is incredibly fast paced with players jumping on and off the ice regularly.  i struggled to keep track of the puck because it moves so quickly.  we had a great time!  jeremy declared he wants our kids to play hockey.  it seems like a lot of gear to put on a child.  i prefer to watch the action packed adults play.

over the weekend

we got all gussied up, went to a fancy wedding, and had a grand old time.

i loved it. basically... i need more friends to get married.

date night

we wandered around salem for the evening.

we stopped at our favorite stores, saw a lot of people in costume, unsuccessfully searched for some sugar skull gear (i will resort to the blessed internet), and had a delicious dinner.

city day date

yesterday we had ourselves a lovely day date.  

we spent all day romping around in the city.  we started at the museum of fine arts.  they were celebrating the lunar new year with free admission for all, so naturally we wanted to join in the fun.  we wandered around taking in all of the paintings (the slave ship!!), sculptures, ancient artifacts - jewelry, coins, furniture, tombs, etc, etc, etc.  the place is HUGE so when i say "all" of it, what i really mean is... we saw a mere fraction of the art.  it was incredible, they have amazing pieces.

after we wandered around the art for a bit, we ventured to beacon hill to get some serious pizza at upper crust.  on the way, we walked through the snowy public garden and saw people playing hockey on the frozen pond.  i was all ready for us to take a walk on the ice, but jeremy refused.  i keep him wild, he keeps me safe... and this time safety won because it was cold out and we were about 5 minutes away from fresh pizza, otherwise i may have held out.

it was our first time at upper crust and it will certainly not be our last.  the pizza is delicious! and the options are basically endless with all of the toppings you can choose from.  you can buy it by the slice or customize your own pie.  plus the staff are super friendly and you get a sweet discount if you have your student id (hooray for jeremy's student status!).  it was a perfect place to stop in for a bite to eat and to warm our limbs. 

after dinner we walked across the common to see a movie. well, we bought candy at cvs, stashed it in my purse, and then went to the movies. candy is required at the movies and i'm not about to spend $4 on a box of milk duds.  is that dishonest?  anyway... we saw the jack ryan movie and it is action-packed!  i liked it, jeremy loved it.  it was great!

then we meandered on home appreciating our boston.
