Get Crafty!

The first 5 people to comment on this lovely post will get something made by me.

The Rules
1. You will not know what it's going to be. It may be something simple and small or I may go crazy and do something amazing.
2. It’ll be done in the next month (translation: you won't be getting it tomorrow).
3. And, you have to offer the same deal on your own blog - the first 5 people to comment on your blog get something made by YOU!

Ready... GO!GO!GO!

genius

The other day I went to a review session for one of my classes that we were having a test in, Contemporary Sociological Theory to be more specific. It's actually not that bad. Anyways, this girl interupts our TA (teacher's assistant) during the review and says, "Sorry to interrupt but I am pregnant and I am feeling very faint, does anybody have any food?" Immediately people start rummaging through their bags and getting her tons of food: apples, potato chips, cheetos, granola bars, etc. She was loaded with goodies in a matter of 10 seconds... seriously. All I can say is that she is a genius... of course we all believed that she was actaully pregnant even though she wasn't showing yet, but how would we really know.

I just might try this trick some day.

not just a mixer

This beauty was delivered on our door step yesterday afternoon.
It's orange.
I love orange.
I am complete.
I have been considering the color of my future Kitchenaid Mixer since I was barely a teenager. For some reason it was important to me.
Yellow? Blue? Green?
Nope. Orange. It just had to be orange.
You can tell a lot about a girl by the color of her Kitchenaid. I dream that my orange one is saying great things about me. Maybe things like, "This cool girl is funny, energetic, cheerful, friendly, and loud."
What color is your Kitchenaid? Why did you pick that color? What is it saying about you?
p.s. happy saint patricks day.

Pizza!

Tonight Jeremy and I made our very own pizza! My half is the one with pepperonis and Jeremy's is just plain cheese. It was my first attempt at making anything that called for yeast (AAAAHHHHH! ITS ALIVE!), but it was definitely a success! It tasted so good!

Looks delicious, huh? Here's the recipe so you can make one yourself:
Friday Night Pizza
(Saturday Night in our case)

1 c. warm water
1 tsp. salt
2 T. oil
2 ¼ tsp. yeast (or 1 packet)
1 tsp. sugar
2 ½ c. flour

Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar and salt. Add oil and then flour. Mix, knead, and divide(makes 2 round pizzas). Let dough rest 5-10 minutes. Put more flour on the counter and roll out dough. Top with sauce, cheese, and pepperoni or whatever your little heart desires. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
WE: 1. forgot to let the dough rest (still turned out AWESOME)
2. only let our pizza cook for 10 minutes
3. put the other half of our dough in the freezer for a homemade pizza night in the future!

In conclusion... it was super good and easy enough for me to figure out... so

Go MAKE SOME PIZZA!

or pie since today is pi day (3.14)

learning the art

I just started taking photography classes from this gal, Brooke Snow. There is a group of nine of us aspiring photographers taking classes once a week throughout the month. Last night was the first one and I feel like I have learned so much about shooting in manual mode already! I am so excited! I now understand aperture and shutter speed, where to find them on my camera, what they do, and how to use them. We will see how I do on the homework she gave us. I will post the pictures I take if the turn out alright.

p.s. 3 tests down, 1 to go now. almost done! woohoo!

the day of festivities...

i have been enriched

the other night at enrichment night we made bows! i was about the only one that attended the activity that didn't have any little girls running around their house (except for the rs pres who is single), but i thought, "heck, i am going to make some bows for myself." so i did. i simplified the various designs, so i don't look like i am stealing the bows from a little sister or something when i wear them. they are pretty easy to make after you see someone make one. here is what i made:
