a downer

after multiple opinions, it has been decided: we need new tires.

so sad.

i have been somewhat stubborn on the issue and jeremy has been trying to get me used to the idea for about 2 months.

this morning jeremy decided to get a quote at Big O. he went when i was still in bed (it was better that way). he kissed me good-bye and i told him not to buy anything- with my lovely morning breath. he assured me he wouldn't.

i heard my phone ringing about ten minutes later. i stumbled to my phone, which was on the kitchen counter, (bad planning) and found jeremy on the other end. he told me we could get four new tires and it would only take 20 minutes. wow... awesome. what? no. i was too tired to remember exactly what he said, but after another phone call asking my opinion and explaining more logistics, i told him to do whatever he thought was best. yeah... i was definitely back in bed at that point.

jeremy soon came home with a bundle of papers and dragged me outside to see the new tires. he was so excited. me... not so much. what a BIG boring purchase?! but they do look good.

today we bought tires.

yuck.

and we got the oil changed... jeremy is good at taking care of our car.

i have been contemplating...

should i go for blunt bangs?

(like Jessica Alba?)

Word.

This morning I had some time between my classes.

So I found a warm building, a deserted hall, and an empty bench to plop down on. I thought it would be the perfect place to try and decipher an impossible book that I need to read for my class tomorrow.

"Pension Puzzles" by Hardy and Hazelrigg. Let's discuss the ins and outs of Social Security. Ahhhhh! So I was trying to wrap my head around that topic and two male students rolled in and sat on the bench right next to me.

What? Don't they know the rules of proximity when it comes to public studying places on campus? A whole post can be dedicated to those rules... but I will tackle that another day. As I tried to understand benefits, redistribution, markets, risk, etc., etc., these boys were quite the distraction.

They must have been majoring in Middle Eastern Studies because they were practicing their Hebrew. One boy was talking about how Arabic was three times harder than Hebrew. The other said that he bet it wasn't three times as hard, but maybe two times as hard. Seriously? That boy had an OBSESSION with the word, "Word." He would say it after everything. Word. No joke. Word. Spare me! Word. The other boy was singing in Hebrew. Word. They practiced some Hebrew phrases they looked up on the internet. Word. And then they sang some more. Word.

I read 10 pages in 30 minutes and I'm not sure I really understood anything. But I highlighted some stuff, so that counts for something. Word. I was so close to asking that boy to stop. Word. I mean I was trying to study. Word.

Find a different bench... please.

I bruise.

I acquired this bruise exactly one week ago. And yes, it still looks this gross. (I took this picture 25 minutes ago.) I ran into the foot board of the bed. Pretty hard actually, it hurt and was swollen for a couple of days. It has been mellowing out a little, but I can't believe it still looks so disgusting after a whole week.

Jeremy and I were talking about my nasty bruise this morning as we were walking to class. He said to me, "Do you think your blood thinners are preventing your blood from clotting?" I smiled and said, "Well, they're anticoagulants."

Definition of Anticoagulant from Wikipedia:
An anticoagulant is a substance that prevents coagulation; that is, it stops blood from clotting.

Jeremy quickly realized what he said and we laughed all the way to class.

I married a funny boy... and blood thinners do make you bruise more easily.

Loving Family

The service for my Grandma Bradley was wonderful. What a privilege to be part of her great family! I am a lucky girl indeed. It was nice to see so many cousins and extended family even though the circumstances were less than favorable. Family is such a great blessing! Especially a family that is eternal.

My cousin Josh snapped this picture yesterday. We are just missing the cute missionary.

Plan B

We were supposed to be heading to St. George for a girl's party with my aunts and cousins today, but my dear Grandma passed away yesterday morning. So we are all gathering in Salt Lake City instead and the boys are being included as well. My Grandma was an incredible person. I feel so lucky to be counted as one of her many granddaughters. My Grandparents have 14 children, 86 grandchildren, and 144 great grandchildren. She is missed by so many. My Grandpa can't quite believe that she left without him. It breaks my heart to listen to him talk about his love for her. They were married for 68 years. I am grateful for the knowledge I have of eternal families and I am looking forward to the day when I will be reunited with Grandma.

I love you and miss you Grandma!

P.S I am loving being with my family.
(My mom is already here and my dad and Riley get here tonight! YAY!)

Our Halloween!

We became SUPERHEROS! Introducing J-MAN and K-WOMAN...

We used our super human strength to carve our pumpkin and to clean out the slimey insides. Somehow I always end up doing the gross part. Thanks J-MAN.

We used our invisible powers to hide from the hungry children in the neighborhood. We had to turn all of the lights off for a while because we heard kids running around outside. We even ignored the door twice. You just can't open a door empty handed on Halloween. Sorry guys!

Then we used the radiation from our eyes to bake sugar cookies. We made them in the shapes of pumpkins! But they are those cool white pumpkins because we don't have food coloring. What kind of house doesn't have food coloring?? Don't worry it has been added to the shopping list.
We used our super sonic speed to deliver cookies to friends because it's good to share the love.
